Disce ludens for schools
In short
Disce ludens comes from the Latin classroom: Thomas Wegener developed the exercises at the Dillmann-Gymnasium in Stuttgart and tested them in his own classes. Schools use all programmes for €3 per student per year. The class gets a code; the children redeem it without an email address.
In class and at home
- Matched to the chapter: each of the 62 lessons can be opened on its own, for example the lesson on the ablative or on the participle. Which lesson fits which topic is shown on the page Latin alongside the textbook.
- Vocabulary: 1,565 words with a flashcard box; plus flashcard boxes of your own, for example for the next test.
- Fair checking: answers are checked on the server; the solutions are not in the browser.
- Hints instead of solutions: the solution costs error points. The log shows questions, mistakes and time per lesson.
The app is in German: exercises, hints and meanings are German, as in the original.
Privacy
- No email addresses: the children redeem the class code and learn with an anonymous ID.
- Names stay on the device: the name for the log is not transmitted.
- No tracking, no ads: Google Analytics never loads for school students or teachers; there are only our own anonymous statistics on the game server, with no data passed to third parties.
- Servers in Germany: hosted by Hetzner in Nuremberg.
We are happy to answer questions about privacy via the enquiry form.
How the class gets started
- Order a school licence via the enquiry form, stating the number of students.
- You receive a code with the matching number of places.
- The children open app.disce-ludens.com, redeem the code and get going – in the browser on phone, tablet or computer.
