Disce ludens I: Latin for beginners
In short
Disce ludens I takes you through the basics in 31 lessons: from parts of speech and sentence elements through all cases to verb forms in the present, imperfect and perfect. It includes a vocabulary trainer with 574 words. Lessons 1 to 3 are free.
Who Disce ludens I is for
For everyone starting Latin or wanting to make the basics secure: pupils in their first years of Latin, adults learning Latin (again), and anyone brushing up morphology and syntax before the Latinum. You don’t need a particular textbook. The app is in German: exercises, hints and meanings are German, as in the original.
How it is structured
The first two lessons practise parts of speech and sentence elements on German sentences – because if you can ask the right questions in German, you find your way around Latin more quickly. Then it goes step by step: getting to know and building Latin words, the cases from nominative to ablative, sentence patterns, pronouns, verb forms in active and passive and finally the principal parts of common verbs. The recommended order comes from Thomas Wegener’s teaching, but every lesson can also be opened on its own.
